Gunsi is located just north of Nieuw-Aurora and is a high-altitude village on the Upper Suriname River. It is about an hour's boat ride from the small harbor town of Atjoni. The tourist camp Tei Wei ('relax') is located right next to the village, making for a unique cultural experience. Villagers regularly visit the place.

The village has a beautiful view over the river due to its high location. The Felulasi rapids in particular are beautiful to see and also recommended to sit in for a natural back massage. At low tide, a sandbank appears in the middle of the river and this warm sand is wonderful to relax in. Gunsi is connected to two other villages upstream by  a well-maintained forest path that you can reach on foot in an hour. An excellent option for hikers!
